Athena Roussos spoke to the San Joaquin County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division on September 24, 2015 along with attorney William Parrish on “Appeals: When It All Goes Wrong.”
Athena also published an article for the Riverside County Bar Association’s magazine, the Riverside Lawyer, entitled “An Overview of Civil Causes of Action for Elder Abuse in California.” You can find the article at page 16 of the magazine here:
Athena sponsored two great events in September as well. She was a gold sponsor for the Women Lawyers of Sacramento annual Art Fest Gala on September 17, 2015 at the California Museum in Sacramento. The Art Fest raises funds for law student scholarships and community grants and features works of local artists.
Athena also proudly sponsored the Farm to Every Fork dinner on September 12, 2015. Farm to Every Fork is a coalition of farmers, urban gardeners, food banks, Slow Food Sacramento, and other food justice activists, including Loaves and Fishes and the Sacramento Homeless Organizing Committee/Homeward Street Journal, advocating for good, clean, and fair food for all.
Athena won a criminal appeal in People v. Morales, involving a petition under Proposition 47, which provides that certain types of felonies are to be reduced to misdemeanors. You can read the decision here.
